We recommend scheduling your beauty run-through about three to six months before your wedding day so that you have time to make any changes if you need. To make sure you get the most out of the meeting, it’s best to be fully prepared.
When should you do your makeup trial for a wedding?
When to SCHEDULE your trial:
You should reserve your hair and makeup team 9-12 months before your wedding date. We suggest doing the trial 1-3 months before the wedding. The trial can be done earlier if needed.
What time should hair and makeup start on wedding day?
Once you’ve determined the time when you need to be ready, we suggest working backward in 30-40 minute increments to determine an arrival time for your beauty team. For example, if you need to be ready by 3 PM and have six applications/styles total, the start time would be 11 AM for hair and 12 PM for makeup.
Is it better to do hair or makeup first?
Typically, we suggest having hair done first followed by makeup, but I wouldn’t let this stress you out too much. Truthfully, it really doesn’t matter which order you go in.
Do you tip wedding hair trial?
Don’t forget to budget for the gratuity (15 to 20 percent for the trial, and again on the big day). After all, your makeup artist is responsible for a good portion of your finished look, which makes tipping accordingly arguably the one of the most important things you could do.
How many hours before wedding should bride be ready?
If you’re having a first look, make sure your team knows so you can be ready on time. In total, we suggest starting three to five hours before your ceremony.
How long before your wedding should you get your hair done?
If you need to get an actual haircut, go 3-4 weeks before so your hair has time to adjust to the new length. DO get a good conditioning treatment one week before your wedding to ensure that your hair will be in tip-top shape for the big day.
Should you wash your hair the day of your wedding?
Please remember if you or anyone in the bridal party is doing an updo or curls, do not wash your hair the morning of the wedding. For best results hair should be washed the day before and kept free of styling products.
Does concealer or foundation go first?
“I only recommend using concealer before foundation when you have a lot of blemishes to cover and you need to use tons of thick, correcting concealer for coverage,” Quynh tells us. “Then you can lightly stipple or dab foundation on top of the concealer for extra coverage and blending.”
